Streets Of Benares

Varanasi has always been an incredibly personal place for me - it's unlike any other city. The culture of Varanasi is deeply connected to the holy Ganges (Ganga) that flows through it.

Varanasi is also referred as "Benares", "Banaras", "the city of temples", "the holy city of India", "the religious capital of India", "the city of lights", "the city of learning" and the "culture capital of India".

Mark Twain wrote, "Benares is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together." I think he was onto something...

Hello,
I'm trying to contact you about using one of your blog posts for an India guidebook. I would appreciate it if you would get back to me as soon as you can. We would love to use your piece on Rikhi Ram. Thank you.
